Clothes still damp after an hour, a dryer that thumps or one that quits halfway through? A local technician finds the cause, explains the repair before starting, and fixes the dryer right where it stands.
We repair the dryer itself. Gas line hookups and new gas connections are done by a licensed plumber.

No. 02 · What goes wrong
These are the calls we get when a dryer starts acting up. Each one lists the usual causes and a safe check you can do before booking a visit.
A clogged vent traps moist air in the drum, so clothes come out warm but never quite fresh.
In humid Houston weather, a long or sagging duct collects water that drips back toward the dryer.
Dirty or failing sensor bars stop the cycle while thick items are still damp inside.
Run the dryer and feel the air at the outside vent hood. Weak airflow means the duct needs cleaning before anything else.
The coils open the valve when hot but fail as they warm up, so the flame dies a few minutes into the cycle.
If the sensor cannot confirm the flame, the igniter keeps glowing and the gas never comes back on.
A restricted vent makes the high-limit thermostat shut the burner off again and again.
Clean the lint screen and check that the vent hose behind the dryer is not crushed. Leave the gas parts to a technician.
A sock or a hair clip caught in the blower wheel stops the motor from turning over.
When a roller or the pulley locks up, the motor strains against the belt and only hums.
The motor gets power but cannot start on its own, which is why it hums and then shuts off.
Turn the dryer off right away and unplug it. A motor left humming can overheat and burn out.
The small catch on the door wears down and stops holding against the frame.
The strike on the cabinet can crack, so the door springs open and the dryer will not start.
Loose or bent hinges drop the door just enough to miss the latch.
Check the hinge screws on the door and tighten any that turn freely. If the door still pops open, the catch or strike needs replacing.
Leave the house right away. Do not flip switches, unplug anything or light a flame, and call 911 or your gas company from outside. Call us once the gas company has made it safe.
Not sure which one you have? We will find out.
